PROJECT

UX OF HUMAN SENSES II

Following our London ventures, our next task was to work on replicating and communicating the richness of the sensory connections that we explored. As a group, we agreed to each come up with prototype ideas over the weekend so we could be ready to share them on the following Monday morning. We brainstormed and discussed several ideas via zoom call meetings and we eventually landed on a ‘String Guide’ game.

BRAINSTORM

IDEATING OUR FINDINGS

We agreed to each bring some of required materials to the next class on Thursday morning so that the prototype could be created and tested.

During our exploration we noted that London is a magical city with iconic buzzing diverse culture. One could easily get lost in the streets whilst admiring the majestic grandeur of the architecture. The smells and sounds also add to the London experience.

We wanted to replicate the experience one may go through when visiting London and we, therefore, decided on the ‘blindfold string’ activity.

We decided that the participant’s eyes would be closed during the game. This is to metaphorically demonstrate the ‘lost’ feeling a new visitor may experience when they first visit central London.

The participants will also stepped on different type of materials and textures during the game. Thesedifferent textures represent the different surprising elements one may experience when strolling around the streets of London.

OUTCOMES

FEEDBACK

Our prototype received positive feedback from the other students class and the two teachers. The participants stated that they enjoyed the experience of playing the blindfold string game because they were able to go through different emotions as they stepped over the textured materials.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • I gained awareness the importance of our human senses and how they shape our human experiences.

  • I was able to explore different experimental design methods and apply them appropriately.

  • We collaborated effectively as a team throughout this project. All of our voices and opinions were heard and we all fairly contributed to the group project outcomes.
